Join us for a panel discussion and small-group conversations to explore the opportunities and challenges of GenAI through faculty and student perspectives.
Moderator:
Romney Adams, STEM Liaison and Copyright Librarian
Romney is one of BCIT’s Librarians; liaising with Programs from the School of Energy (inc. Mechanical Engineering) and School of Health Sciences (inc. Nursing). She works with students and Faculty to help them successfully navigate an information environment increasingly populated by GenAI. As the Library’s contact for Copyright, she actively follows the developing legal landscape surrounding the creation and subsequent use of GenAI content.

- Ian Linkletter, Emerging Tech & Open Ed Librarian: Ian Linkletter is an Emerging Technology and Open Education Librarian with Library Services. He manages the Zero Textbook Cost initiative at BCIT, and also serves on various committees. These include his role as Vice-Chair of the Educational Technology and Learning Design Committee (ETLDC), Accessibility Steering Committee, Open Education Working Group, and AI Task Force.

Expectations for Behaviour
Diversity Circles, as part of the BCIT Respect, Diversity, and Inclusion (RDI) Office, has outlined the Expectations for Behaviour for our events and initiatives.
Diversity Circles has always benefitted from the empathy, sincerity, and respectful curiosity of our community, and this has helped create events and initiatives where we hold productive and authentic discussions, advancing our knowledge and utilization of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles.
As our events and initiatives continue to reach out to diverse audiences which include BCIT employees, students, and partners (BCIT Student Association, BCIT Alumni Association, and industry guests), and as we have moved towards presenting events both in person and via teleconferencing platforms, we realize that having a set of expectations for behaviour will help maintain the accountable, respectful spaces our community has come to expect from Diversity Circles events and initiatives.
