ABOUT THIS EVENT
Join us for an introduction of and discussion on allyship & audism. This event was co-planned with Diversity Circles Faculty Champion Jamie Finley (BCIT Applied Research) to create an event focused on audism and its impacts, within the larger context of accessibility.
How do we get a perspective that moves us from just “accommodation” to “Allyship”? This paradigm-shifting workshop calls us to look at the presuppositions we have about systemic barriers while discussing how to become an authentic Ally, through the specific lens of Audism.
This event is open to all BCIT employees and students.
Presenters
We are thrilled to be joined by seasoned presenters who have deep experience in the arena of allyship and the deaf and hard of hearing communities.
- Kirsten Hagemoen, ASL interpreter, former VCC faculty
- Jamie Finley, FSA Member, BCIT Applied Research
Lunch and ASL interpretation are being provided.
If there are any additional needs you have in order to attend, and participate in, this event please do not hesitate to contact us.
